LEARN MOREThe answer to stop crime and keep everyone safe
School safety requires a balanced and comprehensive approach. High-profile school safety incidents often raise questions of alleged failures of people, policies, procedures and systems. The risks facing schools, both public and private, include active shooters, bullying, weapons, drugs, vandalism, staff and student harassment, property theft, and gang activity. The need to increase public confidence and relieve these challenges is paramount.
These days, houses of worship such as churches, mosques and synagogues are under threat of attack and being the site of hate crimes. For that reason and more, security should be a component of every event offered at these facilities, including prayer service, youth events, concerts, etc. To reduce and/or eliminate threats, consideration must be given to the event, attendance, logistics and times. After-hours vandalism and theft is also a major matter to address.
Public parks and open spaces where people and crowds gather are also areas of elevated concern where it comes to security and safety. The well-being of families, friends and children engaged in recreational activities, enjoying the outdoors or attending events such as picnics or live music performances need to know they are as protected as possible from criminal acts or other human-caused endangerment. Trespassing and vagrancy is also a significant issue.
Without the ability to prevent crime or effectively mitigate potential threats, all of the aforementioned facilities, grounds and communities experience a negative reputation from which it is difficult to recover. Unfortunately, the traditional means of securing these venues just doesn’t work. Security guards are not only expensive but are inherently limited in their coverage and effectiveness. And while access control systems can control parking and building access, such systems are easily thwarted by tailgating. Even video surveillance cameras are no longer effective these days with criminals realizing they are purely reactive solutions.

Remote Guarding At Work

Village Christian was inundated with a range of problems that were affecting the lives of students, faculty and neighbors surrounding the school campus. Those problems included incidents of trespassing, vandalism and theft. Skateboarders, bicyclists and transients were routinely trespassing and using the campus for their own needs. Campus property and classrooms were regularly vandalized, and major theft was occurring as industrial bus batteries began to be stolen as well.
Elite installed remote guarding technology on the campus that continually scanned for intruders. This smart video camera system was monitored remotely by highly trained security agents located in Elite’s command center, resulting in a dramatic drop in crime. Skateboarders tried to trespass only to be deterred by the security agents and intelligent surveillance cameras. Elite also put an end to the industrial bus batteries theft. Once word got out that the campus was monitored, criminals looked elsewhere.
